So, I was trying to think of an easy post for this week as I still had a bunch of things I had to fix on the blog, so that took up a lot of my time this week. I was browsing through the feed of blogs I follow during Egon’s nap when I found this tag that Natalee over at There Might Be Coffee did, and I knew I just had to do it.
I grew up as an army brat, so I got pretty used to moving around at a young age, generally around the province. However, in 1998 my dad was medically discharged from the Army, and the following year we moved halfway across the country from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, our house in Ontario sold in late July and we didn’t take possession on our house in Nova Scotia until mid August. This meant we had to live in hotels for 2 weeks.
When we lived in Ontario, we didn’t have cable. I remember watching Samurai Pizza Cats on Fox Rochester via an antenna. While we stayed in the hotels however, we had access to cable and a lot of time to kill. This was my first introduction to Pokemon, and I was hooked. Added bonus was that it was the coolest thing at the time, so it made making friends at a brand new school a lot easier. Through the years, my best friend growing up, and I bonded over Pokemon, amongst other things.
I have played every version over the years with the exception of the original Gen 3 (I eventually played Alpha Sapphire on the 3DS), and Pokemon merch is still the one thing I will always seek out when at a con. Needless to say, Pokemon has made a lasting impact on my life, so I thought this would be the perfect tag for me.
1.) Favourite Pokemon?
Short answer? Bulbasaur. Long answer? So many more that include Shroomish, Goomy, Ditto, and most of the ghost Pokemon.
2.) Least favourite Pokemon?
I’m not a huge fan of the newer, gimmicky Pokemon. Especially the Vanillite and its evolutions. .
3.) Favourite starter Pokemon?
Ohhhhh, this is tough. Can I just do a starter for each game?
4.) Favourite eeveelution?
Hands down, Espeon.
5.) Favourite legendary Pokemon?
6.) Most terrifying Pokemon:
Drowsee is pretty friggin creepy
7.) Most adorable Pokemon?
Togepi and its evolutions.
8.) Most amusing Pokemon?
9.) Favourite Pokemon type?
Ghost and psychic. I love me some spoopy stuff.
10.) Least favourite Pokemon type?
Fighting probably. There isn’t many fighting Pokemon I love.
11.) Favourite new Pokemon from X and Y?
Goomy. It’s such a delightfully weird Pokemon.
12.) Favourite Pokemon attack or move
I love me some Metronome.
13.) Favourite trainer type?
Psychics, hex maniacs, mediums, basically anything that deals with ghost or psychic types. Oh, and Pokemon breeders simply because it was my first cosplay ever.
14.) Your gym leader speciality?
15.) Favourite region?
16.) Favourite location?
The train in Gold and Silver ❤
17.) Most relatable Pokemon?
I’ve been compared to a Psyduck in the past. My best friend has also suggested a Chansey. In reality, Kangaskhan is not too far from the truth these days.
18.) Favourite gym leader?
Sabrina (obviously). I do also really like Jasmine, Skyla, Gardenia, Erica, and Janine.
19.) Favourite Elite 4 member/Champion?
I gotta go with Lorelei. Outside of my spoopy Pokemon love, I do love ice Pokemon.
20.) Favourite professor?
Does Fennel count? If not, Rowan I suppose. He doesn’t look like any of the other professors.
21.) Favourite Pokemon bad guy?
Seriously? Team Magma. Jokingly? Team Skull.
22.) Favourite rival?
23.) A friend-relatable Pokemon?
I’ve got one friend who reminds me a fair bit of a Wigglytuff.
24.) Most useful Pokemon?
My brother and I just had a big debate over this. Any Pokemon that can learn both Fly and Surf is the most useful in my books. So for that reason, I’m going with Dragonite. Beside, Dragonite is adorable. <3
25.) Favourite animal Pokemon?
I like the fish. I always said that if I got a tattoo, I’d possibly get the stereotypical two fish for Pisces, but with Pokemon instead.
26.) Favourite coloured Pokemon?
27.) Favourite game?
Without a doubt, Soul Silver. I loved the Pokewalker, though that might have to do with the fact I was a security guard at the time and racked up SO MANY steps in a shift.
28.) What did you nickname your rival?
I’m really lame. I usually give them their proper name.
29.) Favourite Pokemon tune or song?
Either Lavender Town or the Route 1 tune.
30.) Most nostalgic element?
The theme and opening animation to Red and Blue. Takes me waaaaaay back.
This tag was fun! I love exploring topics that I’ve cared for a long time and sharing them with all of you. As Egon gets older, I can’t wait to share Pokemon with him as well. In fact, when we go to Anime North this spring, we plan on letting him pick out, and getting him his first starter Pokemon.
For tagging, I tag anyone who loves Pokemon!
What is your favourite Pokemon type? Let me know with a comment!❤
